Le Rosier Évêque or The Bishop, as it's also called, is claimed to be both a centifolia and a gallica in the rose literature. It was first described in France in 1790, so it's an old cultivar. The roses are magenta coloured with shadings of greyish purple. The shrub grows to a height of 1.5 metres and it's once flowering during July. I got my sspecimen as a runner from my gardening friend Karin.
